Good-Bye 2017

So what did 2017 have to offer?

Not much. It’s been a somewhat tough year with my wife’s mother passing away in February, which made the next few months rather tough. I was hoping to get several websites up and running, but that didn’t materialize, and I only managed to get a few posts done. Hopefully, 2018 will be more productive and I will get those sites up and running along with some YouTube channels I have planned. I did manage to get a fair amount of guitar practice in and I am getting better at playing the instrument. I would like to get a new acoustic and another electric guitar in 2018 and would like those to be higher end instruments that I can perhaps play gigs with and do some recording. I have been working on some song ideas and I’m hoping to get those recorded in 2018, so I will also need to learn how to record and mix audio in a Digital Audio Workstation or DAW for short. I also have several videos I need to edit and some of those videos are over 10 years old. I just haven’t had the time to get the editing done and didn’t spend the time to learn how to use software that I had bought. A couple years ago I purchased Adobe Premiere Elements to specifically edit those videos and that purchase was an upgrade from a different version of software I was using, but became outdated with the new video formats as it was unable to edit widescreen or high definition video. Last week I updated my Adobe Premiere Elements software with the newest version – Adobe Premiere Elements 2018.

In October, my wife got a new kitten. Given the situation with her mother, I thought the kitten may be a good idea. A week later I got a Beagle pup, which made our household extremely busy as the kitten and pup didn’t seem to stop. We needed to keep our eyes open for the puppy to ensure he was getting outside to do his business as he had started house training before we brought him into our home. There was also the issue of the dog always wanting to play with the kitten and chasing her around the house. It sure wasn’t quiet for the first few weeks and even now they are a going concern.

Damn, It’s Cold!

This December has been one of the coldest on record for the Ottawa area and I’m hoping that over the next couple of weeks it will come to an end and we can get back to normal temperatures. It has been so cold I can’t take the dog out for walks as his feet get too cold to allow him to walk for any length of time. Currently, I take him out to do his business and perhaps a short walk to get him some exercise, before getting him back into the house.

2017 Was Not Kind

2017 wasn’t the best year we have had, but it wasn’t the worst either. We are hoping that 2018 will be better and that we are able to get some things going that can perhaps generate a few extra dollars in the house. The last year was far from one that one could call productive, but hopefully, things will change in the New Year and we can be disciplined enough to work at some new ideas over the coming months. Sitting at a computer isn’t exactly my thing, but I’m not physically able to do much else at this time, so thinking of writing and doing videos as an artistic or creative endeavour may help make it more interesting. I also plan on continuing my guitar practice and hopefully will be good enough in the next few months to get some songs done that I have been working on. I am also planning on getting back into photography and get some of my photos I’ve taken over the years edited and printed. I have the Adobe Photography package that I’m subscribed to currently, so I have top notch software for doing photo edits and may even go out and shoot a wedding or two if the opportunity arises.

Enough rambling. Time to hit the showers and wait for the ball to drop to bring in 2018 and hope that the coming year will be better than the last one. Wishing the best to everyone in 2018.

Cheers and Happy New Year!
